Filipino-Australian & Western Sydney Animation Artists Wanted: Designers & Storyboard Artists
In-house (Sydney, Australia) or Remote.
We are seeking concept designers from the Filipino-Australian community and/or Western Sydney for art department and storyboard roles on our animated show FISH BOI. We are especially looking for those with a strong familiarity and experience with Filipino-Australian culture, fashion, iconography and visual language, and/or familiarity with the Blacktown City area and surrounds.
Senior Concept Artist Generalists – You are flexible concept generalists and can paint/build concepts to depict key scenes from a script, as well as urban and suburban interiors and exteriors, colour scripts, including surreal dream scenes from our script. Strong sense of volume, lighting and mood is preferred. Matte painting skills will be highly valued.
Character Designers – Craft bold, expressive characters with a balance of grounded realism, 90’s hip hop flair, and stylized exaggeration.
Environment/Background Designers – Help us design an authentic slightly OTT depiction of Blacktown and Western Sydney in the late 90’s. Attention to detail and research when it comes to designing location and period-specific locations and costumes.
Storyboard Artists
Seniors are preferred, but junior-level and mid-weights will always be considered.
What We’re Looking For
Experience or education in animation production pipelines.
Ability to collaborate closely with our show’s director and writer, and other artists, taking feedback and direction and offering creative initiative.
You are professional, flexible and resourceful in your work process and are able to work quickly in fast-moving environment
An eye for the strange, humorous, and emotionally resonant.
